Then the (G)Lord God (Edim7)hunt ed through the (D7)wide night air for the (G)lit tle dark (E7)star on the (Am)wind down (Cm)there, and He (G)stat ed and (C6)prom ised He’d (G)take spe cial care so it (Gm6)would n’t get (Cm6)lost (D7)a (G)gain.

Now a (Cm7)man don’t (Eb7)mind if the (Bb)stars grow (Gm7)dim and the (Ebm)clouds blow o ver and (Gm)dark en him, so (Cm7)long as the (Eb7)Lord God’s (Bb)watch ing o ver (Gm)them, keep ing (Ebm)track how it (F)all goes (E7)on.

But (G)I’ve been (Edim7)walk ing through the (D7)night and the day till my (G)eyes get (E7)wea ry and my (Am)head turns (Cm6)gray, and (G)some times it seems may be (Cm6)God’s gone a way, for (G)get ting the prom ise that we (Cm6)heard Him say.

And we’re (C)lost out (G)here in the stars,
